What's the difference between field investigation and records research?
Records research happens at a desk. Field investigation happens in the real world — at scenes, in neighborhoods, at courthouses, talking to people. The strongest cases use both. Field work finds what records can't.
How quickly can you get into the field?
It depends on the scope and location. Some scenes need to be worked quickly before conditions change. We discuss timeline during the initial consultation and prioritize accordingly.
Do you canvas neighborhoods door-to-door?
Yes, when it's the right approach. Canvassing is systematic — not random. We plan which areas, how to approach, and what to document. It's one of the most effective ways to find witnesses and context that never made it into a report.
Can you work scenes from old cases?
Often, yes. Scenes change, but the environment, layout, and surrounding context can still matter. We assess what's still useful and what isn't before committing to field work on an older matter.
Is field work discreet?
Yes. Discretion is part of the work. We don't draw attention to ourselves or to the people we're working for. How we approach a scene or a neighborhood is planned, not improvised.
